The Edgartown Fire Museum

The Edgartown Fire Museum

The Edgartown Fire Museum was built in 1994 through entirely volunteer labor and donated supplies, with purpose of this building being to house the 1927 and 1952 Mack fire trucks. After retirement, Senior Captain Richard Kelly began collecting artifacts from around town, slowly transforming this two-bay garage into the current museum.

In 2011, after joint effort with the association and the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, an addition was added to house our 1855 hand tub and many more of the acquired pieces that can be found showcased in the museum today. This effort, much like the original building, was done through volunteer labor and donated materials, as well as a grant provided from the Town of Edgartown under the Community Preservation Act.

We would like to thank the Martha’s Vineyard Museum for graciously loaning and allowing the association to display the 1855 hand tub, an original piece of fire history and a true symbol of this organization.
